Freetown, Jan. 26, 2016 (MOHS) – The Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madam Madina Rahman departed the shores of Sierra Leone on 26th January, 2016 to participate in a Consultative Meeting in New York, United States of America with Faith-Based Leaders.
The objective of the meeting is to gather support of Regional Executive Board members for the implementation of the action plans that emerged from the Dakar Consultation.
The consultation will be an opportunity to present to the international community, donors and other agencies of the United Nations System, the importance of collaboration between the government and the development partners with religious leaders to advance issues of health and education of young people to benefit from demographic dividend.
The meeting will also galvanize in helping to expand partnerships with religious organizations from other regions as a strategy to target 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The invitation was extended to Sierra Leone by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Director for Western and Central Africa (WCARO) to the two day consultations which commences on January 28, 2016.
